Bojan Krkic Prepares For Spain Senior Team Debut

Bojan Krkic is ready to play for the Spanish senior national team.

The 17 year-old goal machine is not at all over-awed by the possibility that he might star for Spain in the national team's next match against France in a friendly at Malaga, to be played in the month of February. Bojan has been the hottest subject of discussion as the Spanish team officials want to forever seal the goal machine's chances of playing for his father's country Serbia, after Bojan has successfully played for - and scored - in most Spanish junior team matches. Now, the time is right for the teenager to ear the big boots of the senior national team, after Krkic played - and scored - for the senior national team of Catalunya in his debut match. The senior national team of Spain is not expected to be any different. Reacting to the possibility, Bojan said:

I'm going to play football, given any opportunity to do so, and if the day comes that I'm called up for the Spanish senior national team, the selección then I will of course be grateful. If not, it's OK.

February is a date with destiny for young Bojan Krkic. If Bojan plays for Spain, this will make him the youngest player in history to ever play for Spain, at the age of 17 years and six months in February.

FC Barcelona's Bojan Krkic Commends Sevilla CF

The goal machine had some nice words for hard fighting Sevilla who caused a scare in Camp Nou.

The Copa del Rey clash wasn't as easy as many people thought for the Blaugrana. The Seville team ran riot right from the first minute, missing a close header after a Daniel Alves cross. Alves later troubled Barca keeper Valdes again, and then went on to rattle to Blaugrana woodwork before Navas put Sevilla ahead though the goal was rightly ruled offside. Bojan Krkic was equally impressive in the match, coming in as a 55th minute sub for Eidur Gudjohnsen and upsetting the entire Sevilla defence before almost grabbing the winner for Barca in the dying minutes of the game. The talented teenager spoke after the colourful battle, saying:

We have shown calmness and that we are a team. We went out to win the game but we took it calm because they were the side that was playing catch up. Sevilla played well but we knew how to hold on and create occasions. You always suffer when you try to hold on to a 0-0 draw and there is that fear but we showed that we have a strong team.

Bojan will feature for FC Barcelona in the La Liga match on Sunday, 20th January against Racing Santander. Venue is Camp Nou and kick-off time is 21:00 hours.

Bojan Krkic Speaks After Scoring Real Murcia

gabriel
14th January 2008

Bojan was featured in the post match press conference and his words reflected the views of the entire Barca team.

Mobbed by the press after the demolition of Real Murcia in Camp Nou, the goal machine was elated and pleased with the performance of the super stars and also, humble in his words , body language and expressions while speaking for himself and on behalf of the whole team. The teenager slammed in a 52nd minute goal after a well laid cross from French goal king, Thierry Henry who was also all over the pitch and combined with Bojan to cause serious problems for the visitors. Bojan said that:

We needed a win like this. Now if we qualify against Sevilla, we will feel more confident. The game against Madrid was a hard blow. We had to sort things out and I think we are showing that we did. I feel fine in any of the three attacking positions. I connect well with Henry, it’s something innate.

The Barca striker who has stood in well for injured Lionel Messi is already mapping out ways he will destroy Sevilla on Tuesday in the Copa Del Rey deciding leg at Camp Nou. Kick-off time for the match is 21:00 hours local time.

FCBarcelona's Coach Frank Rijkaard Hails Bojan Krkic

gabriel
14th January 2008

The grateful and delighted Fran Rijkaard is taking more and more to Bojan Krkic as the young lad outperforms all newcomers.

Though Bojan Krkic was expected to play well in his first season at FC Barcelona, the goal machine is rapidly beginning to exceed expectations as he has kept scoring with the slightest opportunity given to him. Barca's opponents are now aware that aside from Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o, Bojan Krkic has played himself into becoming a third major threat in the Blaugrana attack in the absence of injured Lionel Messi. Bojan has never disappointed from his first match against Al-Ahly of Egypt in which he scored a classical goal, and the seniors have seen the goal scorer repeat such performance over and again in official matches. An impressed coach Rijkaard said after Bojan scored against Real Murcia on the 12th of January, 2008:

Barca played onight and the players were brilliant. They left a good impression. It is always important to open up the game when you play a side that keeps it tight at the back. In that sense, we should congratulate Bojan because he played intelligently on the right and contributed to the win in that role.

Bojan will anchor the Barcelona attack when the Catalan giants file out in Camp Nou on Tuesday against Sevilla in the second leg tie of the Copa Del Rey. The first leg ended 1-1 in Seville.
